The centerpiece is obviously the convincing lava-fall in the map's central room, finished by the use of custom shading. The main architecture is complemented nicely with neat details and an impressive variety of textures, all fine-tuned to create the right atmosphere.
The map's gameplay is determined by it's structure: a large central room with an intricate network of corridors and tight spaces encircling it. You'd better be prepared, because an opponent can pop out of a side passage, door or ledge any time. The tightness also creates some action-packed close combat. You're going to love it. The bots do fine on the map.
Go ahead and download this one. Definitely a keeper.

Actually, the spider resembles Latrodectus Tredecimguttatus more. And I'm sorry this sort of got so mwehat off-topic. Just thought I'd point that out.
Of course, if the redback in this map could move, and do what they do in nature, the players would have more than the bots to worry about. But that would be cool.
And are Redbacks found in the United States? Or just the Black Widow??

It looks a lot like a super sized 'Red Back Spider' - http://www.google.com/...43;spider&tbm=isch - The markings are a little different but the shape is similar. The Red Back is common in Australia.
Question: In the 3rd screenshot, does that spider really exist in real life?
sst13 makes this whole mapping thing look waaay easier than it really is. Man. I should submit something...
This map is so cool. Has some easter eggs: spider and fake invisibility. 9 from me. :)

well, this map is cool but i didn't liked the spider and the fake invisibility. 8/10
@EmeraldTiger: Mapping is just a hobby for me. I don't like deadlines or working under pressure. I also want to be free, to create whatever I want.
Nevertheless I would be glad to see someday one of my maps official in QL. :)

Ever considered getting a job at id software? This is a brilliant map; everyone else pretty much said it all. If id takes a look at these, it would be a good idea for them to put this on QL so we can play it online.
I like it. Classic gothic map for great ffa and tdm. Really nice design, worth checking it! 8/10.

Really great map!
Thanks for the positive review!I started to make this map in 2002 and released a beta. But the gameplay wasn't really good. So it stays on my harddrive for a long time. Years later i decided to rework the map:- all rooms are scaled up a little bit.
- adding the lower lava corridors to gain connectivity.
- adding the quad-chamber.
- adding the MH jumppad
- general polishing and eyecandy.PS: Don't try to get the invisibility! :D

Very nice level with a classic Q3A gothic theme and professional looking architecture.
