Where to download the InstaUnlagged MOD (from Quake III Arena)?

I have version 1.2 Beta of this MOD, but it doesn't run well on the new IoQuake3 because it causes the game to crash. So, does anyone have a link where I can download a newer version of InstaUnlagged? Hopefully, newer versions will be more compatible with IoQuake3 and won't cause the game to crash, but no matter how hard I've searched, I can't find it.

@Supersayano : Got a few questions for you:
  • Are there any error messages you can share when the crash happens?
  • If you rename your baseq3/q3config.cfg to something like _bak_q3config.cfg, does the crash still happen?
  • Have you tried using the Quake3e engine instead? - lvlworld.com/mod/id:44

Yes, there is an error message when the game crashes, and it is the following:

recursive error after: Disconnected from server. Copy console log to clipboard?

I have also tried renaming q3config.cfg just in case some configuration was causing the problem, but unfortunately without any result.

And yes, with Quake3e, InstaUnlagged works perfectly, whether I run quake3e.x64.exe or quake3e-vulkan.x64.exe.
And the same thing happens if I click on the old IoQuake3 executable, i.e., the ioquake3.x86.exe file.
The problem only occurs when I use the modern version of IoQuake3, i.e., when I run the ioquake3.x86_64.exe file.

@Supersayano : Based on the console log there seems to be a minor error in ospmaps0.pk3. You could remove that pk3 temporarily and see if that was the issue. I very much doubt it, but may be.

You could also post all this information on the GitHub issues page for ioquake3 - github.com/ioquake/ioq3/issues

The developers seem to be getting ready for an update. An issue like this could catch a larger problem that has been missed.

@Tig, I already removed the ospmaps0.pk3 file from the baseq3 folder and temporarily moved it to the desktop as per your suggestion. Unfortunately, this had no effect.

I'm afraid that the people at github.com/ioquake/ioq3/issue are either incredibly incompetent or simply ignoring the issue, perhaps because they don't want to admit they're clueless, even though they're developers of IoQuake3. Whatever the reason, they don't seem interested in helping me with the issue of the 1.2 Beta version, which is the ONLY ONE AVAILABLE ON THE ENTIRE INTERNET (there are other versions, but they don't even appear in the MODS section when you install them in the game), as far as I know. So, I'm returning to the topic of this thread: does anyone have a valid version of InstaUnlagged? In some YouTube videos, I've seen people playing with newer versions of InstaUnlagged, like 1.30 or 4 according to the video descriptions, so there must have been newer versions that might work fine in the new IoQuake3. Unfortunately, although I requested a download link in the comments of those YouTube videos, I haven't received any response.

In short, all of this is very frustrating. On the one hand, I can't find any other versions of InstaUnlagged to test it, and on the other hand, the IoQuake3 developers don't seem to care about the issue at all and keep going off on tangents until they simply stop responding when they can't find a solution. So, if anyone has anything to contribute to getting out of this mess, I would be very grateful.

A few suggestions:
  • Use Quake3e instead and don't use ioquake3 any more. It is free software after all.
  • Keep trying to help the developers of ioquake3 to understand and replicate the issue.
  • Keep trying to locate a newer version of the mod.
  • Take the very long road and learn to build your own mod that does the things you want.

To be fair to everyone, I think it's my duty to say that finally, after much searching, the solution to this strange problem was found in the github.com/ioquake/ioq3/issues/817 thread. My InstaUnlagged 1.2 Beta version no longer crashes the game. So, problem solved!!!

And in case anyone is interested, the solution was to add the Quake III Team Arena .pk3 files to the missionpack folder. Apparently, this mod checks if Team Arena is installed, and if it isn't, that's when the game crashes.

@Supersayano : To be honest, this is a really good outcome for a very difficult situation.

Your suggestion to "fix" the mod would be simple enough if you can find the source code for that mod.

The flip side is the ioquake3 code is available and you could build your own version of ioquake3 that removes the pk3 integrity checks. I personally believe the developers should keep this code, but as an individual you could remove it on your own version.

The easiest fix is the one you have already where you need to keep Team Arena installed :)
