First of all, thanks for the hospitality and a big hug to Tig, I don't know how much time we spent making maps and what all this has brought us to after 20 years! After installing Q3 and Netradiant (I was qeradiant addict) and after an hour I felt like I was back in the golden days, all the shortcuts returned automatically and here I am with a new map and I would like your help for the beta testing for the placement of weapons and spawns and fixes around. For now I'll post some screenshots and then as soon as I have cleaned up I'll upload a test pk3. Thanks again!

@Kit Carson - That looks awesome! Distinctively Q3A.

Based on the screenshot alone, maybe something to break up the top brushes and a feature texture or element on the wall at the end in most of the screenshots.

Keen to see a beta release :)

Hi Tig, yes, that's a fair observation. The idea was to have a level within something completely gothic and massive that would give the impression of being "heavy," completely Quake3esque but a little more refined. I love the first vanilla deathmatch maps. They were truly inspired, but perhaps too simple in their refinements due to the time they didn't have to deliver Quake 3 Gold. I still have email exchanges between me and Willits, but they always remain the point of reference if, despite thousands of custom maps, we continue to play the originals and ZTN.
now i will playerclip and caluk everything and i will prepare a test pk3.

@Kit Carson : Fully aware this is a beta release. I'm enjoying the size and the Q3A theme and textures. I did also find a few annoyances.
  • The height of a few ledges is just a little too much to jump up. While this may be have been done on purpose, it is frustrating.
  • The hidden Rocket Launch that you need to jump to.
  • Some of the brushwork has small lips and details which are kind of hidden because of the texture choices. Should be cleaned up (removed / smoothed out) or highlighted and made clearer.
  • I think the unbroken length of some of the corridors seems a little too much. Others may feel differently about these.
I think you may also get some better feedback from the Map-Center Discord server => discord.gg/yuguPx6c9M <= This is a fairly active space for works in progress compared the ..::LvL Forum.
