Well, you can quite easily rocket-jump up there while pressing "Crouch" in the flight. I've done that plenty of times! But yeah, it's a nice conversion.

It's impossible imo to reproduce the thrill of moving around with the quake 2 grapple, so important in this map (for instance to enter the base though the RG room). Nice conversion anyway!

This map is cool with Generations Arena. Good thing it comes with it. I gave it a 7.5 because I can't give it a 7.6

SithLord, do some z-fighting fixing. Lot's of that in there. CAULK CAULK CAULK my friend, it's becoming a buzz-word in the mapping community, but nescessary anyway.
Anyway, I've just uploaded my own new map (McKinley Revival remake), and I've submitted it to Lvl. For a quick glance check:

I'm about finished with a new version. The battle suits are goner, they are too powerfull and I made some other fixes. But getting out of the water is no problem even the bots have no trouble at all doing that.

Scratch my last post, we pulled the map. The playtest revealed some problems. The shield thingies are a bit strong, and the dimensions seem a little off at times. The worst problem however with this map is it's difficult to get out of the water. Needs some fixin IMO.

Unforunately Team Arena isn't out yet here in the Netherlands. I am working on a newer version though, mostly for improved bot support. And I also will make a team arena version for it, but I have to wait for the new Q3Radiant the be released.

Maybe SithLord should release an updated version of his map using the new TA weapons, or make one for CCTF, maybe both why not ? :)

this is a god damn travesty...
stop fagifying quake1 and quake2 classic maps by making quake3 versions.. they are sacred and don't deserve to be treated like that!!

I play tested the tunnels and you can go through one without getting drowning damage. If you want to stay longer underwater just use the Battle Suit. And for the grapple and the (Q2) power techs, I recommend Pure CTF.

If you liked the original, you'll like this one.....of course. Only two little nit-picks. Seemed to be too much health and armor. Maybe it was like that in the original....i forget.
The other gripe is....there was a rebreather in the orig. Best used if you wanted to hang out in the tunnels underwater for a while. This map is missing that ability. Perhaps if there were air pockets in the tunnels half way through. Not a big deal though...as this map is SUPPOSED to be played with the grapple and you'll have to be pretty sorry to drowned in there.

fine piece of work! Textures were more than just nice. Only bad thing was botplaying but when you ignore it you'll enjoy fragging and capturing.

Look for this map in the next release of PureCTF ( with 1.25 source when it comes out ).
Eraser : I would also be interested in the McKinley remake. If you could contact me Eraser it would be cool. ( kilderean@planetquake.com ).

Damn good map! One of the best conversions I've played. It really has the Quake2 feeling especially if you use the Pure CTF MOD. I wonder how it plays using the new classic CTF MOD..... We should try that at the next pr0nMaster Frag Party! Keep up the good work SithLord.

Great map indeed. To Opulent: I'm working on a Q3 version of McKinley Revival (the Q2 McKinley map). I'm trying to get it just as close to the original as SithLord's map is. I haven't finished the basic layout yet, so it'll take a while before it's finished.

Hey Sith dude! Great work! we've already played a lot of hours in your map and it's simply great. And not without the Pure CTF mod ofcourse (cannot play without a grapple :-) Cheers from your buddies at ClanQC.

Great map! However, I tried to play Coliseium Mod and it said there was no spawn points for this game type. Would really like to be able to play this map in Coliseium. Would really be like Q2 Lithium.
Thanks

Maybe the best "look & feel" I've seen on a remake. And the item placement is good (if maybe on the generous side).
The slow water movement and lack of a grapple in Q3 may have a bad effect on this layout though. The map might have been improved if the non-bridge routes were changed to be all or mostly "dry land" rather than requiring water movement.
Still a good map. Botplay is hampered a bit by the fact that there are several armors that bots apparently can't get to, and several powerups that they usually ignore. So it's pretty easy to load up and whup their asses (more so than usual, that is).
